Description
"Step aboard this 27-footer and there's no "bobbly" small boat sensation. At 8,000 pounds she sits solid in the water. The Island Packet 27 displaces as much as 3,000 pounds more than rival auxiliaries of her size and averages about 1,500 pounds heavier than the boats available in her class in 1980. Her big boat feel and heavyweight status come from the way she's built. Her long keel may set her apart from the crowd, but rugged construction is another Island Packet hallmark, and it all started here." ~ Practical Sailor

Spirited Performance and Exceptional Livability...
"The Island Packet 27 features the highly successful Island Packet design concept that combines a modern full keel with handsome traditional styling, a versatile, easy managed rig, and an unusually spacious and livable interior. The modern full keel design, unique to the Island Packet line, provides the benefits of spirited, powerful performance comparable to deeper fin keel designs, with added advantages of "hand-off" tacking and fingertip steering control, and superior seakeeping and safety. And the moderate draft full keel gives the full capability for blue water passages as well as exploring shallow coastal waters.
On deck, the Island Packet 27 features a wide bowsprit anchor platform, raised bulwarks, premium coarse diamond nonskid, full-length cabin top handrails, and double bow and stern rails with double lifelines for secure deck work. The roomy cockpit features contoured seats with deep coaming backrests, a comfortable helmsman's seat, large seat locker and loose gear tray, cockpit icebox, watertight engine access hatch and rack and pinon geared wheel steering for precise feel and utmost reliability." ~ Island Packet 27 Brochure

Accommodations
More spacious interior than many 28' or 30' vessels, the Island Packet 26' sleeps 6 in two cabins.
The Forward cabin provides 5'7" headroom and a 6'2" v-berth that sleeps 2. Anchor locker can be accessed at the forepeak via a door and further storage is along hull-side shelves and below the berth. Just aft and to port is a locker. Light and ventilation pour through an overhead hatch with soft screen and opening cabin ports.
Aft to starboard is the fully enclosed head with manual saltwater head with fold down teak cover for seating while showering. Single basin stainless sink provides hot and cold pressurized fresh water, with a shower extending from the counter. Storage is behind a louvered cabinet door below the sink and on a fiddled shelf outboard above the head. There is an additional louvered door cabinet behind the head. Opening cabin port above the head, with soft screen, provides light and ventilation.
The main salon offers 6'2" headroom with a 6'4" settee to port and a 6'6" settee to starboard, which converts to a double. Bulkhead mounted table folds up out of the way when not in use. Leaf extension provides seating for 4-6 at mealtime. Cabin ports open to create a nice cross breeze when at anchor. Storage is below settees, behind the settee setbacks, and on fiddled shelves along the hull-sides to port and starboard.
Galley is conveniently located aft, just to port of the companionway. Single basin stainless sink provides hot and cold pressurized fresh water, next to an Origo 2-burner alcohol stove. Formica extension flips up for additional counter space. Opening cabin port above the stove allows for ventilation while cooking. Storage is in a louvered cabinet below the stove, a trash bin below the sink, behind hull side sliders, and in drawers and cubbies along the aft bulkhead. Ice box is below the counter in the corner.
Aft, to starboard of the companionway is a comfortable quarter berth.
